The Kansas Genealogical SocietyLibrary

The Kansas Genealogical Society Library, co-located with the Kansas Society Daughters of The American Revolution Library, is located in the Village Square Mall; 2601 Central Avenue, Dodge City, Kansas. The Library is accessible by elevator and escalator.

Hours: Monday through Friday — 1:30 to 5:00 PM
First and Third Saturdays of the month — 10:45 AM to 4:00 PM

Closed: New Years, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, 2 weeks during Christmas

Fee: Free use of both the KGS and KSDAR libraries by KGS members and KSDAR members. Nonmembers, please donate $3.00 per day.

Photocopies available @ 10¢ letter; 15¢ legal.

 

The Library Catalog is maintained on both cards and computer database. The Catalog can be searched on this website.

 

The Library holdings include:

Book and Manuscript collections of over 15,000 titles including: Family Genealogies, Military, Immigration, Cemetery, Bible and Vital Records from Kansas, other states and some International records. The microfilm and microfiche collections exceed 1,000 rolls of film and an extensive collection of fiche. A large collection of CDs (Ancestry, Family Treemaker, Heritage Quest, etc) is also available.

 

The obituary collection includes obituaries of more than 200,000 persons and is ongoing. The collection is indexed and computer searchable.

 

KGS subscribes to many periodicals and exchanges periodicals with over fifty societies.
